Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy
BCST (biodynamic craniosacral therapy) is a gentle, non-invasive, hands-on therapy that assists the body’s natural ability for self-repair and healing.
It supports nervous system regulation and allows the resolution of conditions resulting from held stress, tension, and trauma in the body.
BCST offers a space for processing, and for the completion and resolution of an experience through felt sense awareness and it also offers individuals the opportunity to process their feelings, sensations, and emotions in a safe environment with a skilled therapist.
BCST offers the client a safe, trauma-informed space to process their history of trauma, and the strategies they learned for self protection.
BCST offers a way to connect with the body’s natural wisdom and innate healing abilities. It offers the client an opportunity to come into relationship with the health and wellbeing of their own body through felt sense awareness.
A BCST session offers the client an opportunity to come into relationship with the fundamental intelligence of their own body.
A BCST session supports the inherent health of the whole body, especially the nervous system.
BCST can be used by anyone of any age, even babies and newborns due to its gentle, non-invasive, non-manipulative, light touch.
BCST can support any diagnosis or symptom as there are no contraindications with this modality.
“The health in the patient cannot become diseased or die. You can’t kill it. it’s
transcendent. All we need to do is listen, use our hands in a skilled fashion, be patient, have the
time and follow the health”.
What to expect
Sessions take place in my home. We begin by discussing relevant history, your concerns and reason for booking.
A session is typically done sitting or lying fully clothed on a massage table with or without blankets and pillows. I will make contact by placing my hands lightly on the body and tuning in to what is happening in the body.
I will always ask for consent to touch your body, with common hand holds at the feet, sacrum, and cranium. There is no manipulation or massage in this modality. Comfort during a session is imperative for both client and therapist.
Clients sometimes notice sensations or signs of nervous system discharge throughout the sessions. Sensations such as, deep relaxation, changes in breathing, twitching, changes in temperature, feeling itchy, a feeling of expansion or softening, and stomach gurgles can occur.
Sometimes clients enter into a meditative state, falls asleep, express held emotions, experience memories or insight, or will simply rest.
A BCST session initiates a therapeutic process in the body and sometimes this can be uncomfortable. A healing process is initiated on the table and the body will take as long as it needs to complete the process. This is why sensations can linger after a session. If this is your experience, it is recommended to do things that nurture yourself, to do things that feel good for your body.
The session can often involve processing patterns that inhibit your health and vitality. Once these patterns begin to shift, the therapist may notice changes in your fluids, tissues, bones and potency. You may experience a sense of integration in your body, mind and spirit.
At the end of the session you may
- Feel relaxed, but also energized
- Find yourself breathing more fully and deeply
- Stand straighter and taller
- Feel more comfortable in your body
- You may feel a new sense of peace and ease
- Notice an improvement in your sleep patterns
